Auto Insurance

Many people have an insurance policy but do not exactly understand how they are covered or what they will do if they find themselves in the position of needing to utilize their insurance. Discover the basic types of car insurance and find out how to obtain the coverage you need for your particular situation.

  • Liability Coverage â€“ This covers the medical expenses and damages when you are at fault in an accident. Liability is what protects you financially and is required by Texas law, so it is important that you as the driver make certain you have an adequate amount. We consider Liability Coverage one of the most important parts of your auto policy.
  • Uninsured/Underinsured Motorist Coverage- This covers you and your passengers along with your vehicle when you have an accident with someone who either does not have insurance or does not have enough insurance to cover damages. In Texas, only a $250 deductible will apply.
  • Collision Coverage – This is what covers your vehicle if you collide into something. This covers collisions with other cars as well as if you were to run into a wall, barrier or bridge.
  • Comprehensive Coverage – This covers anything that may happen to your car that is not directly related to a collision. This would include things such as theft, fire, flood/weather related incidents, hitting a deer or vandalism.
  • Medical Payments or PIP– Medical payments pay for any injuries to the driver or passengers that occur if an accident occurred while you were driving. Personal Injury Protection is an alternate option that offers a broader form of coverage including Loss of Wages.
  • Replacement Cost Endorsement- Purchased a new vehicle? This is a popular coverage that many carriers now offer. It guarantees replacement cost coverage to your vehicle- giving you like kind and quality to what you purchased as opposed to traditional Actual Cash Value that most policies offer.
